LCM Presentation
First feedbacks showed us something we knew from the beginning: This entry is too long. We know that, but in order to be complete, it had to be long. But we decided to put in a short version also:
With Career Days, everything is well... for further information, you have to read the text below.
This post is destined to those people, who weren't able come to the LCM last wednesday. And for those people who still doubt that collaboration is cool.
A little summary of the presentation done by Bilal last wednesday:
For AIESEC, Career Days is primarily a tool for marketing, to get visibility in the economic world and the press and to provide a leadership experience for the OC. After this definition, Career Days is not a core product of AIESEC.
This year we are collaborating with UniEmploi, an organization that is part of Etudiant+ (the university's structure that is supposed to help the students). In the years before, they used to do a forum on their own with a lot of workshops and a lot of companies. But they lacked the visibility we had. So this year we decided to join forces and get the double out of it (principle of every merger... we talking economics here). The good thing is, we don't have to fire anybody... (well, not that much economics, then...)
Of course, new situations aren't always easy and even less comfortable, so we heavily discussed the problems arising from such a collaboration:
- We might lose visibility during the event and before
- We might lose the brand Career Days
- We might lose income
- We might lose leadership experience and organizing experience
These concerns are very serious, but we think to have figured out a way to avoid these problems being realised.
Loss of visibility: Because of the collaboration with UniEmploi, we will have two press conferences in which we will present also Aiesec. Additional to that, UniEmploi will distribute Flyers in all the faculties of the University of Geneva, Flyers with the logo of AIESEC on it too. This might get us a very interesting diversification of LC members. All in all, even if we have to share visibility with UniEmploi during the event, the visibility before the event is huge. So we are actually gaining visibility.
Losing the brand: We negociated with UniEmploi heavy about this. We explained to them, that we can't just be their junior partner. After we got to know each other a little bit, they accepted this fact. So we are actually on the same level. AIESEC also improves in terms of credibility, because we can profite of the good name of UniEmploi by the smaller companies in Geneva. And the event with the stands will be called Career Days. So we keep our brand also for the for the future.
Loss of income: This year's Career Days will be a record setting one in terms of companies and NGOs. It will be an enormous number. And this of course will also affect the income. On top of that, we negotiated a fixed amount, that ensures AIESEC Geneva's basic expenses.
Loss of leadership: This point was very quickly avoided. We are collaborating with professionals and a partner organization. This means we have to adjust all of our decisions with them. This is all new for an AIESEC Project of this size. So, in our opinion, leadership experience has actually increased due to the collaboration.
Besides of improving by collaborating, we also improve the only AIESEC part of the project. As an example, we are getting a new improved website by the end of the year.
Maybe you are right: It is not perfect. But we think it is the best solution and if you think about it, well, you will agree that we have also enormous advantages to take out of this.
So, we hope to have convinced everybody on this subject, if not, please write us with the questions that torture your minds on
kaetze@ge.aiesec.ch We are always looking forward to new inputs.
Well, so long...
Leasure time is over...
Well, after having prepared some things during summer, we finally can start the real deal. The collaboration is fixed in a contract and we are all set to go. Now we actually start working. And we will. We are going to work like crazy to make this the best Career Days Event that has ever taken place. Or at least to be better than Lausanne...
We negociated a deal, that is actally ensuring the finances of Aiesec Geneva along with a 40% share of revenues (which we will create abondantely) or losses (which we will, of course, avoid).
The event with the companies and Stands will actually be called Career Days.
Since I don't think we actually pointed this out enough yet, I will make it all clear to you: This year we are collaborating with UniEmploi, the people from Etudiant+. The whole event will take place in Spring, from April 30th to May 11th, and it will be bigger, better and a whole lot more interesting than before. Just all new. It will be huge, with an uncountable number of companies and NGOs and even more students. All faculties will be present, because UniEmploi has better contacts to the students outside of UniMail. It will be cool. And we are working with professionals, so our whole group is in for a lot of learning processes which we are eager to do of course. In case we haven't mentioned that yet: We are motivated. Very motivated.
Well, I have to stop myself sometime, and I decided to do that now. Just remember: Career Days 2007: Bigger, better and a whole lot more interesting...
Help!
HEY, everybody, out there, yes we are talking to you:
We still need two people. We mean, come on, you can't really want us to do all the work. We know you want to help. You could be our knight in shining armour, who could get us out of our desperate work attitude. And hey, Logistic isn't that bad... no, actually it is a lot of fun... we left it on purpose just for you. And of course Catering... we'll need somebody for Catering... come on, it's easy. You just have to get the food. I mean, food, this is the best of all. What would we do without food...
So you two, who are out there, who want to help us. Thanks already... just write an email like: Yes, I am motivated and you seem to be a cool group, maybe we'll get along... to the adress
kaetze@ge.aiesec.ch and we're in business.
Thanks, really, thanks a lot
The OC
Pictures!!!!

Well, maybe we were a bit to eager to start. We still have to wait. We still have to finalize some last agreements with UniEmploi. This will take place beginning of november.

But we know of course, that the point of a blog is not only to inform people, but to present pictures. So we are delighted to announce that the pictures are finally there.
So here we come (from top to bottom):
Bilal Zafar

OCP Organisation Committee
Janine Peter
Sponsoring
Tamara Nunez
Campus Marketing

Dominique Ursprung
Organisational Marketing
Stefan Katz
Finance

And, well, of course we should mention that we are still very motivated and looking forward to getting new experiences (especially in cooperation with UniEmploi).
It's gonna be fun.
That's all folks...
Progress
Yes finally, there is some progress to announce.
Finally a reason to write something...
The agreements with Uni Emploi are finalized so we will start as soon as possible to get the companies interested in Career Days.
In the next days, we will also present our crew a little bit more with some information and each one with a nice picture... Delightful...
Anyway, that's all for now
A new blog in the universe

Yes, something the world has waited for eternities has been finalized these days: Career Days Geneva has its own blog.
We will post information regularly about our progress in organising this, for AIESEC, very interesting and crucial event.
Some words about our crew:
Right now we are 5 highly motivated people:
Dominique (Marketing Companies)
Tamara (Marketing Students)
Janine (Sponsoring)
Stefan (Finances)
Bilal (Leader of the group)
At this point, we are still looking for people to join us. We have free posts like Logistics and Catering. Feel free to contact us in case you're interested! Apart from that, every sort of help is, of course, always welcome :)
Hopefully very soon we will have the finalized agreement with Uni Emploi (with whom we cooperate for the Career Days 2007) and then we can actually start contacting companies and NGOs.
Well, this is all for now, as we said, we will inform you about are progress as soon as progress sets in.
