Two months to go!

Time is moving on fast - especially during exams - and Career Days are getting closer.
Here is a short update on what has happened over the past few weeks:

Although stressed enormously by exams , Nicole and Anja have managed to design a professional flyer to attract students to the event and give it the appropriate image.
With inscription deadline expiring last Friday we have finalized the list of the companies and NGOs who will be present during the event and are proud to announce that their total number is about twenty which we think is already quite considerable given the difficulties and the fierce competition we are facing.
Karl and Nicole attended a meeting of all the Swiss Career Days Presidents in Bern and came back motivated to win this year's Career Days award sponsored by ASCDA, our national association.

Over the next weeks, we will now concentrate on giving the event its final shape: marketing, logistics, schedule and the overall presentation will be the main issues.
It will probably be a very busy time and the CD team will certainly again occupy the AIESEC office for uncountable hours. Well, what else is there to say except for:

WORK HARD !!!

AIESEC Geneva proudly presents...

…the AIESEC Geneva Career Days 2008 Organization Committee !

THE TEAM

Here’s the amazing people who dedicate hours and hours of their time uniquely to the success of Career Days 2008:

Anja: OCP, Valentine: business communication, Nicole: Marketing, Kasia: Finance, Stefan: Sponsoring, Alexandre: Logistics, Karl: IOs & NGOs

The entire team has been incredibly busy over the past two months, namely with CALLING, CALLING, CALLING – sometimes over hundred companies per week. With the inscription deadline coming up soon, we are right now finalizing the list of the companies who are going to present themselves to the students.

THE EVENT

For several reasons, this year’s OC decided to create a new, innovative and special Career Days concept for Geneva, with a focus on students in HEC, Economics & International Relations. Our forum, the first of this specialized kind, will take place from April 2nd to 4th, 2008, involving stands, presentations and workshops from renowned companies and organizations.

Beforehand, students will have the opportunity to get their CVs corrected by professional career managers and to attend special preparation sessions so that they will be able to profit the most from Career Days.

CAREERDAYS.CH

www.careerdays.ch is our official website where you can find information on all AIESEC Career Days in Switzerland. Apart from that, it offers the possibility to upload your CV to a database that is accessed by human resources responsibles from all companies participating at any of the Career Days forum.

So, that's it for our brief overview of Career Days '08.

Check out this blog regularly to see what we are up to and how we are doing !

See you at Career Days !

As time moves on

Dear readers...

A long, long, long, long... long time ago we were beginning a project that was so much fun and a great success... Career Days 07... it was amazing... we learned a lot...

But there comes the time when we all have to let go... and this time is now... as much as this project was dear to us, we are now glad to hand it over to other people who will strive for as much excellence as we did.

This is the final entry of the "old" team... as we hand over the blog to the "new" team... we wish them all the creativity and pleasure that we had and we hope that success will be theirs too...

We have one request to you, dear blog reader, though... please give the pleasure to the new team and check out this blog more often then you did in our time...

Have a good one
CD Team 07

Is the blog dead????

NO people, everything is fine with our blog… it’s the people behind the blog who neglected our blog a bit… if he had feelings, he probably felt a little bit left behind…

Because:

We were working hard and this progress actually doesn’t show on the blog… two months ago the last update was made… for all the people who think we are still where we were two months ago: You’re wrong!!!

The forum has started. Finally. First two days went very smooth. We still are waiting for the booklet, but hey, not everything can be perfect the first two days…

The first two days we had the Ateliers of CUE and they passed without big trouble and we got good feedback. Thanks to all the people who were helping as assistants. We huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugely appreciate your help and your motivation.

Tomorrow the first of our workshops starts. It will also be very interesting. The Broadening Horizons PboX has worked very hard to put that in place. You should all be there.

Next week also, on Monday, we will have the Workshop of Global Citizen that will be fascinating as well as the Workshop of Ernst & Young. If you’re interested in the Ernst & Young workshop, please write an email to Stefan (stefan(at)ge.aiesec.ch) to subscribe. He still desperately tries to get 20 names on a list in order to make Ernst & Young happy…

We did a outstanding marketing, on company side as well as on student’s side. On company side we got 90 companies to participate in the Forum. And on student’s side we got very good feedback. Our movie department did a superb job with the CD movie and we will publish it on the web as soon as some administrative hurdles are taken…

Other members however have learned that the way from the CUE to UniMail with a box full of Flyers suddenly seems longer than they thought. They took the “box-moving” to a point that they could have put as experience in their CV “demenageuse experimentée” as job experience. But then again, if you’re at the bottom of the Career Days Food Chain, you might as well carry boxes

About the Food Chain… we got new participants in the Career Days Food Chain. They are probably not yet aware of it, but our Genevan Minority desperately seeks to move up to the middle of the nutrition hierarchy by putting others at the bottom. These others are most likely to be our beloved Extended OC consisting of Joan Vozeh for Logistics and Valentine Fargeaud for Student Marketing. Thanks a lot, you probably saved some members from stress disorders and heart attacks due to overworking...

To all the readers that now got scared about all the food chain talk and are supposed to help in the Forum these next days … don’t worry, we will not eat you. It is all the contrary… it will be a good experience for you to see how this big Forum is being organized behind the scenes. All the externals coming and going… all the food that has to be at the right place… all the student’s who don’t know where to go… and all the people coming to the stand, and after all the marketing still ask: Hey, what is this Forum all about?

What else did we learn?

Some people got their good spirits back and working hard to get the image of someone who picks on the others all the time… but of course in a funny way.

We also learned that people in suits really look good

We also learned that all the work we put in the Forum actually pays off

We also learned that with all the pressure, we still work great as a team

We also learned that when certain people write blog entries, it is likely to end being a really long one

Thanks for all of your participation and all your moral and physique help and assistance.

We all can’t wait to see the Forum with all the stands and all the presentation and we will learn a lot during the next week. Since sleep will be a precious thing during the next week, we will probably be exhausted in the end. But that just puts us in the right mood for Kickoff… so everything is going smooth and a lot is still before us… we are all happy that the Forum finally takes place

And now, before we get all emotional, we will probably go back to work and make it all happen…

Thanks a lot

We're still there

At lot of water flowed down the Nile since we posted the last blog entry. We just wanted to mention that we are still in effect...

Half of our team has now finished their exams and are ready to continue with the planning. The other half is still stuck in a lot of exams, so they had to step back.

We are now in a crucial stage of our project since we have to call all the companies to invite them to Career Days. This is a lot of work... but we're still up to it...

Anyway, we have actually not more to tell, so...
that's all folks
